Stittsville is a rapidly growing suburban community surrounded by farmland in the western part of Ottawa, about 31 km west of its downtown. Although the community is rapidly growing, it has maintained its small-town flavour. Stittsville’s residential areas are mainly comprised of single detached houses. Many historic buildings dot its Main Street.
Stittsville contains eight schools; English and French public and English and French Catholic. The community has several parks and greenspace areas including the TransCanada trail and several parks. It also has a major recreation centre.
Stittsville Main Street contains commercial services. There are newer shopping centres located in the centre of the community at its major crossroads; Main Street and Hazeldean.
Road access to Stittsville is provided by Hazeldean, an arterial road that connects the community with Carp, a community to the west, and the community of Kanata to the east. Highway 417, a provincial freeway that connects Montreal, Ottawa and points north, is easily accessed via Main Street.
